October 21st, 2017: KM 517.9 - 531.0

(Beaver Valley 73.8 - 86.9)

The Summer has somehow come and gone without very many hikes. Chris, Eily and I struck out yesterday to do a short hike in the beautiful fall colours. My left knee was really sore last week, so we opted to do a relatively short hike.

The trail quickly reached Beaver Valley ski resort, and we hiked up the ski hills. The weather was perfect for hiking!

For the most part, the rest of the day's hike followed the escarpment on the top, with an occasional dip down the cliff and back up.

About 5 kms from the end of our hike, Chris slipped on a rock that was hidden by leaves, and sprained his ankle. He had to do the rest of the hike dealing with that pain :(

There were a few really nice lookout points from the top of the escarpment.

At the end of the hike, I found that Eily had HUNDREDS of burrs in her fur. I spent 10 minutes pulling out a small fraction of them before snapping this picture. Believe it or not, this is 30+ burrs:

13.1 kms total took us around 3.5 hours. Happy to have gotten one more hike in before the snow comes!
