May 22nd, 2016: KM 438.3 - 454.7

(Blue Mountains 61.4 - Beaver Valley 10.6)

Had a great Spring hike with Chris, Fiona and Eily yesterday. Did a total of 16.4 kms mostly along the top of all of the Blue Mountain area ski hills.

The hike started in the cross country ski trails near the Scenic Caves

The trail then crossed the road and started running along the top of Blue Mountain. There were a ton of people here taking the gondola up and hiking / biking the trail. Eily had to be leashed up for awhile.

Once we got away from the ski hills Eily was set free again to explore ahead of us.

The trail ran downhill and uphill a few times throughout the Len Gertler Memorial Loree Forest, leading to some nice rivers and bridges.

We found a nice a lookout with a bench and plaque.

There were many caterpillar nests in this area , on almost every tree, with hundreds of them in each nest.

Had a mini lunch on a giant deck at the top of the final ski hill before the trail started heading away from the cliffs back towards the car. Beautiful view from up there!

Took us just over 4 hours to do the hike. Was a perfect day for it :D
