April 4th, 2021: KM 655.6 - 672.9

 (Sydenham 97.7 - 115.0)

Chris and I (and Eily) had our first hike of the year yesterday. It was a cool but otherwise beautiful sunny day that started with some great views:

Snow was still visible in the deep cracks in the limestone ground

After crossing a road, we entered Pottawatomi Conservation Area and got a view of a nice waterfall.

Some great views in the conservation area as well.

There were a couple of decoy geese on one of the rock pillars near the cliff edge.

After Pottawatomi, we spent quite a while hiking on the roads of Owen Sound. There were some ducks in the ditch on one side of the road.

Then the trail turned on to an old railway path that has been converted to an off-road trail for ATVs and pedestrians.

Shortly after leaving the railroad path on to another road, we saw some hawks and a bald eagle flying overhead.

Eventually, the trail cut back into the woods and along the side of a hill for a little while.

Eventually we popped out of the woods back into another farmer's field.

The final section of the trail had us passing by a nature reserve. A small pond was here and Eily HAD to take a quick dip.

All in all it took us 4.5 hours to finish the 17.3km trek. Eily was completely zonked when we got home.

Great hike!
