May 21st, 2023: KM 749.2 - 768.9

(Peninsula 22.9 - 42.6) First hike of 2023 with Chris and Eily yesterday! We targeted Hope's Bay for our final destination. Eily and I met Chris at Hope's Bay just after 11am, then drove to the start spot, and got on the road at 11:35. It was a nice sunny day with a cold breeze. Perfect hiking weather. A large group of people entered the woods just ahead of us. It took us a few minutes to pass them all. This hike took us around the outskirts of two different Bluffs. The first one, south of Sydney Bay, is called Jones Bluff. Our first views were to the south, towards Kings Point Bluff. There were huge birds of prey flying around here. The trail took a turn, and the views changed to north / north east, towards the tip of the peninsula. Then the trail turned some more, and we could start to see Sydney Bay. October 17-18th 2017: KM 454.7 - 517.9

(Beaver Valley 14.5 - 73.8) So Anthony and Jamie finally made it out again! We missed posting a blog for our last section October 2016 that brought us to this starting point. Because we weren't able to make it out onto the trail in almost exactly a year. we have fallen behind the Smith Bros. In order to make up that difference we opted for a 2 day excursion with and overnight stay in Eugenia Falls at an Airbnb. We decided it would be a good idea to pack up the bikes and hit the road between the starting and ending points of the hike to save on some cab fare. The weather was great for this time of year and it seamed like a good idea after researching the grade for the bike ride. Boy were we wrong! There was so much wind and the it turned out to be a lot more uphill biking than we had thought. the trip went like this: Day 1 We parked the car at the 14.5km and bikes to the 41.7km mark on our maps in edition 25. Aug 3rd-4th, 2024: KM 768.9 - 794.4

(Day 1: Peninsula 42.6 - 59.0) For the first (and only?) hike of 2024, Chris' family met Fiona, Eily and I up north for an attempt at 2 days of hiking. First day is pictured below: We started with a nice breakfast at Red Bay Lodge. We then met Chris at the end point and drove to Hopes bay to start the hike at around 9:45. The hike started with a long climb to overlook the bay. Some other passing hikers mentioned the pot holes to us, which we reached after around 30 mins of walking. This part of the trail was pretty much constantly up and down. The wet rocks made for some dangerous descents. It also didn't help that it was quite hot, and we only brought 2L of water for Fiona, Eily, and I. The views were very nice though. Around 1:30 we reached a road, and Fiona took Eily to go back to our original meeting point where our car was parked. Chris and I continued on.
