Chris and I finished another leg of the trail today. 16km's in about 3.5 hours.
The day started off cold, about 4 degrees. It was hailing lightly off and on throughout the hike.
We're hiking though Hamilton now, along the escarpment. I expected it to be like St. Catharines, with alot of time being spent on the roads. They manake to keep the trails mostly in the woods, but you can often see houses, or roads very close by.
This stretch was up and down quite a bit in some sections. Small ups and downs mostly, but gets pretty tiring after a few kilometers.
Interesting sites along the hike...
A lot of graffiti under the bridges
Some cool man-made staircase which the hike did not tell us to go up
A weird tree growing out of the hill sideways
Some nice overlooks of the city
We saw a tree with a rope hanging from it, with a large concrete brick underneath.. looked strangely like a setup someone would try to use to hang themselves.
Sketchy treehouse
Saw a bunch of kids on a rope swing. The rope was really long and very thin, and the drop would have been quite far, onto a rocky hill.. All of the kids were peer pressuring each other to swing. Darwinism at work?
A sign on a lamppost that everyone should take note of
Golf courses
Nice waterfalls
We saw some woodpeckers flying in and out of their house
Called a cab from Scenic Drive to bring us back to the car. Cost 36 bones. Hit Burger King on the way home. It really hit the spot
Anthony and Jamie are scheduled to do this leg on Monday. Go get 'em boyz
